A domain name (also called
a URL, or universal resource locator) is a
web address that is used to find your web site on the Internet.
Most domain names are written in a format such as www.yourdomain.com,
where "yourdomain" would feature your own domain
name.
In the United States,
domain names will typically end with extensions such as
.com (for commercial web sites, as in www.webtwister.com),
.net (technically for Internet providers but in reality
can be used by almost anyone), or .org (for nonprofit
organizations, although again anyone can get one). There
are others which are used strictly by certain institutions,
such as .edu (for colleges and universities only),
.mil (for military use only), .gov (for government
agencies only), and .int (for multinational governing
agencies, such as the United Nations or the European Community).
Without domain names,
you would have to find web sites by typing in a series of
cryptic numbers, which make up what is called an IP address
- the Internet's true "telephone numbers". Thus
you would have to reach the Yahoo! search engine and portal
by typing in 204.71.200.75 instead of www.yahoo.com
if domain names did not exist.

online and ready for use the same business day your initial
payment has cleared. However, if it is late in the business
day US Central Time, your site may not become available
until the following business day.
Once your account has
been set up, you will receive e-mail from us informing you
that your site is ready. We will provide your initial User
ID, password, and IP address. You will then be ready to
upload files at any time thereafter.
